Scope and Nature of Role

Responsible for the safe operation and overall maintenance of the ice arena and its equipment. Passionately leads the operation, performs maintenance, and ensures the quality and consistency of the facility's ice resurfacers & ice rinks.

Essential Responsibilities

• Assumes responsibilities of building Supervisor while on duty to assist staff with the highest-level building/event operations for an exceptional guest experience.
• Directs the maintenance of the ice surfaces including use of ice chipper, edger and correct ice resurfacing techniques.
• Responsible for initial and ongoing training of all Ice Techs in proper ice resurfacer operation and maintenance.
• Perform and coordinate the implementation of detailed daily circle checks by all Ice Techs.

• Responsible for documenting weekly and monthly maintenance on all ice resurfacers, including blade changes, oil changes, routine greasing and other routine maintenance.
• Effectively and efficiently performs heavy or emergency repair on ice resurfacers and ice surfaces. This could include responding during off hours or days.
• Meet with Supervisors, Lead Supervisor and Manager's on a daily and weekly basis to receive instruction, provide direction and confirm that implementation plans are meeting or exceeding expectations.
• Create effective plan of communication and coordination between all Ice Techs & Supervisors to the Standard Operating Procedures for ice surfaces and ice resurfacers are consistently followed by all.
• Provides excellent customer service at all times, to ensure that all policies are properly implemented including the following:

• Monitors drop-in skating events both on and off the ice to ensure safe, quality experiences for all participant and spectators.
• Assists in the general maintenance and upkeep of the ice arena area including but not limited to: sweeping, cleaning, setup/tear down and other custodial duties.
• Knows emergency procedures for equipment and evacuation plan.
• Performs additional duties as required.

Qualifications

• Must have valid California Driver License.
• 3-5 Years of ice resurfacer operation.
• Certified Ice Technician (CIT) from the US Rink Association
• Experience with routine and heavy ice resurfacer & ice surface maintenance required.

• Must be able to contribute to a strong teamwork environment.
• Must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this job that are physically demanding, with a strong mechanical aptitude.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must be able to work in a cold environment.
• Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.

• Must be able to work nights, weekends and holidays to ensure our team meets the demands of rink operations.
